A vent is never forwarded
What you tell the AI in confidence is stored in a separate, isolated database with its own restricted connection pool. No API path exists that lets the other person read it, quote it, or infer it.
Anger gets a cooling period
A message written in the heat of an argument is held for a short reflection window before it can be sent, and you are shown the calmer version first. Nothing leaves without your confirmation.
The feed explains itself
Posts from the people you connected with stay strictly chronological. Anything else carries a plain-language reason for why it reached you, scored by a published formula rather than by time spent.
Harm is not smoothed over
When the pattern is repeated disrespect rather than a misunderstanding, Duet stops mediating and sides with the person being hurt. Keeping a relationship intact is never the goal on its own.
You do not have to take our word for any of this.
Everything the ranking considers
Discovery posts are scored by these four terms and nothing else. There is no watch-time input, no engagement-bait multiplier, and no hidden per-user tuning.

Where your words are held
Messages are encrypted at rest. When the AI needs to read one, it is decrypted in memory for the length of that single operation and never written back out in plain text — not to a log, not to a cache, not to disk.
The key that unlocks your data is derived partly from your own passphrase and partly from a platform key held separately. Neither half is sufficient alone, so a breach of our infrastructure does not hand anyone your conversations.

- Can my partner see what I tell the AI?
- No. Private vents are stored in a separate isolated database and no API route exposes them to anyone but you. Your partner only ever receives the reworded message the AI composes, which does not quote or reference the original.
- Does Duet always try to keep the relationship together?
- No. When Duet detects a repeated harmful pattern rather than a misunderstanding, it stops mediating and prioritises the wellbeing of the person being hurt, including pointing toward real-world support where that is warranted.
- How is the feed different from other social apps?
- Posts from people you have connected with appear in strict chronological order with no reordering. Discovery posts are scored by four published weights — recency, stated interest, connection signal and post quality — and every one carries a plain-language reason for why you are seeing it.
- Can I check these claims myself?
- Yes. The feed ranking algorithm and the messaging privacy core are published as source-available repositories under the PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0 licence, so the behaviour described here can be read and verified directly in the code.
